You know what you get from being nice to people?
Absolutely. Fucking. Nothing.
Sometimes I like to believe this is a lie…
and sometimes i realize it’s too often true.
Maybe it’s just me, but I thought we were supposed to be nice to people just for the sake of being nice. Maybe it’s not the people who let you down, but your expectation of them to be nice in return.
“We don’t give love to get love. We give love to become love.”
i suppose that’s true. and i suppose the things on my mind are more about showing respect and appreciation than being nice. but in general, yeah i do expect everyone to be nice. even though i know many won’t be. and i don’t think that’s wrong. being nice is not only the right thing to do, it’s also the logical best choice. and i don’t think it’s wrong to be hurt or even a little mad when people choose the opposite; i’m not a saint. but i am a nice person. it takes so little effort. i just don’t get it.
